Europe and the United Nations commemorate the victims of the Shoah on January 27, the date on which Auschwitz was liberated in 1945. The Italian Academy marks Holocaust Remembrance Day each winter with academic events exploring issues of discrimination and crimes against humanity. This year's symposium brings Professors Ruth Ben-Ghiat (NYU), Lidia Santarelli (NYU) and Alexander Stille (Columbia).
