Italy at the Forefront: Innovation versus Constraints

Dario Franceschini, Italian Minister of Cultural Heritage
in conversation with 
David Freedberg, Pierre Matisse Professor of the History of Art, & Director of the Italian Academy, Columbia University
and with 
Dario Disegni, President of the National Museum of Italian Judaism and the Shoah (MEIS)

Minister Franceschini will focus on Italy’s role in international cultural conservation and his ministry’s initiatives in this domain. He will also speak about the Italian Task Force's work in the rescue of monuments in Syria and across the Middle East. This will be followed by a brief introduction by the Minister and by Dario Disegni to the newly-created Museum of Italian Judaism, directed by Simonetta Della Seta.
This event forms part of the 2017-18 program of the Academy’s International Observatory for Cultural Heritage.
