Summer Online Festival

The Academy presents its first Summer Online Festival, starting August 7.

All features will be free and open to the public on our website.

First up, Metropolitan Opera General Director Peter Gelb talks with Yale Professor Gundula Kreuzer (Italian Academy Fellow 2015–2016). This is paired, the following evening, with a streamed performance of The Met's new production of Handel's Agrippina.

Next we offer exclusive free streaming of feature films by Texas-based Italian film director Roberto Minervini, a talk with the filmmaker by author Rich Benjamin (Italian Academy Fellow 2019–20), and a documentary film by Emory Professor Anna Grimshaw.

The festival continues with check-ins with musicians slated to perform at the Italian Academy in the coming season.

Finally, we celebrate Beethoven's 250th year with a reading by music critic and novelist Paul Griffiths from his new book Mr. Beethoven.

All films and videos (except The Met’s opera) can be streamed anytime after their release through the end of the festival.
