After the Ph.D. in History of Archaeology at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa and the collaboration with Monumenta Rariora Project, Denise La Monica has devoted her interests to the protection of cultural heritage, working as research team and project coordinator in the Laboratorio per la Ricerca, Analisi, Tutela, Tecnologie ed Economia per il patrimonio culturale at the Scuola Normale Superiore. She has developed research projects on different topics, such as the organization of local museums in net systems, the historical development of cultural heritage protection, the underwater cultural heritage, and the abandon and reuse of historical buildings considered as public assets. Over the years, she has published articles not only in scientific journals, but also in newspapers, addressed to a wider public.
